Los Angeles Guzheng Performer Composer Annie Zhou Wins Hollywood Independent Music Award

Los Angeles, CA – July 30, 2026 –Local composer and Guzheng performer Annie Zhou won Best World Music at the 2026 Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA) at The Avalon Hollywood on July 30, standing out among 15 global nominees.
Zhou received the honor for her original work, '404: Lost in Neon,' a composition highlighting her signature integration of traditional 21-string Chinese instruments—specifically the Guzheng—with modern soundscapes. The track features production by Leo Anthony and mixing and mastering by Kristopher Carter.
The Hollywood Independent Music Awards recognizes outstanding independent musicians from around the world across a wide range of musical genres. Annie Zhou’s recognition in the World Music category reflects her continued contributions to expanding the global reach of traditional Chinese music through contemporary composition.
